DESIGN CRITERIA:

A residential renovation of a corner unit at The Yacht Club Portofino in the exclusive South of Fifth, Miami Beach district is an on-going project.

The dated kitchen was completely demolished with the idea of creating a space for eating and entertaining.  Technology was utilized to maximize the effects of LED lighting on the oversized quartz countertop and lacquered cabinets.

The living room is evolving to provide views of the Biscayne Bay from all seating areas.  Window treatments will be light and airy and custom made mirrors will be placed to enhance the sense of openness and light.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

The scope of this project was to design, build and decorate a residence located on the upper floors of Levent Loft 2 Building which features panoramic floor to ceiling windows.

The loft concept was fashioned by preserving the existing windows and raw concrete finished columns and walls.  A glass wall separates the kitchen from the living room.  Two seating areas were created to accommodate the needs of the owner.  The focal point of the living area is enhanced by a custom built display structure of marble and walnut that houses a flush fireplace.  The second seating area is used as a media center.

The main idea behind this project was to create a reversible space where the inside and outside are one.  Therefore, the majestic views were counterbalanced by the extraordinary furnishings, materials and vertical garden. The last feature was designed with a self-contained plumbing system that enables automatic watering and seamlessly melds the two spaces.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

The Bazaar Project is a 1000 square foot, life style store in the heart of Miami’s Design District.

The store sells a wide variety of product culled from different regions of the world.  The goal was to create a culturally rich, residential feeling, within a retail environment and distinguish the space from its high-end neighbors.

Display pieces were crafted to take into account the nature of the items being sold and a generous amount of lacquer, stainless steel, glass, plexi-glass and bronze mirrors were installed to create a positive retail experience.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

Complete interior renovation of a three bedroom apartment at Mashattan Residence.

Client requested an eclectic design to portray a ‘fun-loving’ life style.

To accomplish this, circular lines, creative patterns and a multicolored palette were chosen. Each room was designed with its function in mind and a large amount of custom made furniture was built to reflect this.  All fabrics, rugs and drapes, as well as accessories, were chosen to echo the eclectic theme yet provide a harmonious flow throughout the apartment.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

Transform an old apartment unit with breathtaking views into a modern living space.  The major component of this project was the relocation of the kitchen to create an open, inviting space that becomes a central part of the home.  To achieve a sense of unity, a solid oak tree table combines the kitchen and living room, allowing spectacular views of the Bosporus.

All windows were replaced with custom made, colored glass and matching window frames.  Bronze mirrored glass was used extensively in the entrance foyer to create an illusion of large space.  All the rooms were designed using a consistent theme, creating continuity between rooms.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

Atelier 55 is a challenging retail project in Galata, one of the most historical areas of İstanbul, transforming a very old Turkish style coffee place into a concept store within a coffee shop inside. Starting point of the design process had been aimed to reflect the general spirit of this neighborhood as much as possible through the space.

The coffee corner which was planned to be available at all times inside this store played a major role during the process of the design.

Atelier 55 concept store embodies modern simplicity in its design concept, while having subtle details that captures the elegance and romantic spirit of the store. Materials on the existing building influenced and supported the design with its colour, texture and more significantly with its unique living spirit.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

Kandilli Mansion, a highly special residence, is located at the magnificent hills of Kandilli with one of the most breathtaking views of Bosphorus. The mansion is also a historical monument in terms of its architecture and position.

Traditional wood construction mansion has 4 stories with over 1000 m2 of living space where each floor has been developed with their unique characteristics and differences from each other by following the original taste of historic Turkish mansion design principles. Conserving the exterior facade had been the primary focus and simple and harmless methods were developed in order to improve its appearence in the most charming ways. Having over 3 meters high ceilings created great opportunities for custom made wood panelling application of the interior walls by showcasing the extraordinary details of the wood work in a spectacular way.

One of the other characteristics of Kandilli Mansion is the amount of terraces surrounding the building. A vast roof top and multiple terraces on each floor with unique views enable this building to embrace the beautiful Bosphorus unlike any other in Istanbul. Kandilli Mansion’s extraordinary location and century-long existence with its glorious exterior and interior structures, one can get fascinated with its architecture in many different ways.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

ODTÜ, one of the most respectable educational foundations of Turkey, developed its own electric and electronic research center. This is a project of interior planning and decoration of the ground floor space.

Research center was built as a “ Smart Building” and took 2 years to build. Building is an engineering marvel which used innovative technologies such as membrane water treatment systems and electricity production capabilities thru solar panels.

The 430 m2 ground floor entrance is designed in the most visual and functional ways where the middle area was kept as a hollow floor section. Structuring it that way gave us a variety of area usage in distinctive ways.

Custom made seating sections, surrounded by the library and green areas, was designed for the users of this center. Choosing environmentally-conscious materials became a high priority for this project. Inside this space, where you can instantly notice intense custom made wood works, you can also experience the leather wall coverings, coloured plexy glasses and timber games in the most unique forms.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

This summer house project is located in Göltürkbükü, one of the most pleasent and warm locations of Bodrum. Instead of following the standard level of submitted residential property understanding, main criteria of this project was to utilize the space to its maximum potential.

The initial phase of this project included the alteriations of all the mechanic and drainage systems around the main entrance area. Different techniques of architectural solutions were applied in order to improve the homeowners quality of life.

Although interior planning took a major role towards the design, fulfiilling elegance had been hidden inside the simplicity in all spaces, during the decoration phase. Subtle details were also cruicial in completing the design.

As we go through Göltürkbükü summer house’s interior design, one can feel the reflections of South of France’s Provance style architectural details and usage of open space. The entrance also becomes a focal part of the house thanks to the updated layout.

DESIGN CRITERIA:

This is the renovation project of three adjacent waterfront bosphorus houses in Ortakoy, one of the most prominent areas in Bosphorus. The exterior facade is built exactly the same way as original facade in order to comply with heritage laws to protect the historic status of the building. Interior layout is designed by JK Mimarlık according to the owners needs in the most appropiate ways.

In this large scale project, various different ideas and forms are created during the design process. From the materials to the patterns of the ceiling followed by colour tone harmonies to the decision on the furniture styles and custom made products, every little detail had been thought by the interior designer.

Although the most functional, comfortable and usefull decoration units were chosen to reflect the water front houses magnificence, we avoided exaggeration and excess.
